Heavy Snow Showers Expected In Reykjavik For The Next Few Days

Heavy snow showers are expected in Reykjavík and the surrounding area today and tomorrow. People are warned that driving could get difficult and traffic will be a lot heavier than usual.

Continuing snow and sleet showers are expected until tomorrow night and weekend temperatures will plunge in the capital region, with frost up to to -8 degrees Celsius (17.5 °F.). According to the Iceland Met Office the snow is not going anywhere and winter is truly here to stay.

Along with the snow and temperature drop, winds will be strong making travelling out of the city not ideal. Travelers are reminded to check for regular updates on the official site of the Icelandic Met Office.

As always, the weather in Iceland is famously unpredictable, so if you’re travelling to Iceland make sure to pack clothes for virtually any conditions (you can leave the Hawaiian shirt and shorts at home though), and please make sure to stay updated before hitting the road!
