Beautiful Photograph Captures Dynjandi Waterfall Completely Frozen And Covered In Snow

Deep in the remote Arnarfjörður fjord of Iceland’s Westfjords region you’ll find the breathtakingly beautiful Dynjandi waterfall. It’s the regions’s largest waterfall at 100 meters (330 ft) in height and 30 meters (100 ft) in width.

While normally the sound of this roaring waterfall can be heard from far away, that wasn’t the case in the early morning hours when an employee of the Environment Agency of Iceland captured this photograph of it…completely frozen!

This is not something that happens very often, but a recent extreme drop in temperature caused this beautiful waterfall to put on its winter clothing.

A more familiar sight of Dynjandi:

Dynjandi truly deserves to be called the jewel of the Westfjords and in our opinion is one the most beautiful and majestic waterfalls you’ll find in Iceland.

While in summer the waterfall is surrounded by green mountains and is easily reachable by car, the area can be a bit tricky to reach in the winter months. With roads frequently closed due to avalanches or heavy snow.

Here's a stunning video of Dynjandi in action for a better grasp of its size:
