The waiting time is now over for Eurovision fans, as the official music video for Iceland’s entry to the 2021 song competition has been released.
The song is called 10 Years and was written by Daði Freyr and is performed by him and his band, Daði & Gagnamagnið.
In 2020, the band’s whimsical song Think About Things was considered favorite by bookies to win that year’s Eurovision song contest for Iceland. But like with so many things in 2020, the contest which was supposed to take place in The Netherlands in May had to be cancelled due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
Nevertheless, the song became a viral hit and catapulted the band to stardom.
The Icelandic National Broadcasting Service, who’s in charge of the country’s Eurovision Song Contest entry, decided it was only fair to send them again as Iceland’s representative in 2021 without holding the annual Söngvakeppnin competition, which usually picks each year’s representative to Eurovision.

The band is family-led and consists of: Daði Freyr Pétursson (lead vocalist), his sister, Sigrún Birna Pétursdóttir (backing vocalist), Daði’s wife, Árný Fjóla Ásmundsdóttir (dancer), and their friends Hulda Kristín Kolbrúnardóttir (backing vocalist), Stefán Hannesson (dancer) and Jóhann Sigurður Jóhannsson (dancer).
The name “Gagnamagnið” translates into English as “data plan” and the band are known for their signature teal green sweaters, depicting printed pixel art images of themselves.
