Peaceful Winter Evening in Reykjavík

Did you know that this lovely inviting street, Skólavörðustígur, leading up to Hallgrímskirkja is named after a cairn, Skólavarða (varða means cairn in Icelandic), that used to stand approximately where Hallgrímskirkja stands now? In the past, cairns were used to mark trails in Iceland. We think the name is rather fitting in several ways.

For those interested, we have an article with more information on Hallgrímskirkja church here.
